La Laguna has been quietly living in the back of my mind for a few years. With the refresh of the website and the launch of the new season of the podcast, the time was right to work on this.
Back in 2022, I took a trip to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. One afternoon, just before rushing to the airport, I ended up in a town called San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The "La Laguna" part stuck with me. Probably because it was the only part I could correctly pronounce. Plus, it was fun to say.
It wasn’t just that moment in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. It was the entire trip, and that moment in time in my life. Climbing Mt. Teide, which admittedly was a bit terrifying at the top. Wandering through the historic streets of San Cristóbal, admiring the architecture and the vivid colors on the buildings. Standing beneath 800-year-old dragon trees. It was special.
La Laguna became a mental waypoint. A reference point for stepping outside my comfort zone, taking risks, meeting new people, and coming back with a new perspective. Realizing there’s a different way to approach life than the pace you’ve become accustomed to. I wanted to memorialize that, both for myself and for anyone else who has stepped off their usual path and chosen an adventure that changes how they see the world.
If you appreciate what we do here and would like to support our efforts, we wanted to be able to offer you something for your support. And we wanted whatever that was to mean something to us.
Pre-orders coming soon.
